I woke up (or rather slept with) sore palms. Today is our boss birthday and we had planned for a small party in the office during tea-time for him. Thinking it would be easy with the help of my cookie cutter collections, I volunteered to make some mini “Disney character toast with egg mayo dip”. And oh how wrong I was. Thank God I only had to prepare for 30pax (just finger food) so I only bought a loaf of bread – the big one which consisted of 30 slices (with bonus 3 slices). Each slice could yield me 3 normal sized + 1 tiny sized (HK or Pooh) characters. So 31(I did not use the crusts) x 4 = 124pcs! But I had to confess, towards the last few slices, my palms are so sore (from pressing and punching on the cutters) that I had to “cheat” out by making 4 giant Mickey (1 slice yield 1 only) for the birthday boy. But still 27 x 4 = 108pcs + 4pcs = 112pcs is still very much a “killer”! X_X"
It took me almost 2 hours to complete them as I only had a small toaster oven out. The small tray only could fit in 8pcs of characters at a time of 3~4mins/toast. So you could imagine me, punch punch punch, goes into the kitchen, place them on the tray, set the oven on, goes out to the dining table (with fan, as the kitchen is too warm), punch punch punch again, goes into the kitchen, take out the toasted ones to cool down and reload again…. Repeated for more than 15 times!!! After I’m done with the toast, I still need to mix the egg mayo dip, but thank God this was an easy one. By the end of the evening after I have finally settled Zo & Baby Jo in bed, I was completely flat out but then I still had to wait for hubby to go online so that I could chat with him. And of all nights, he had to “choose” last night to be caught up by work in the office until late. ARGH! So much of hoping for some "comfort" from him eh?! : (
Anyway, I’m glad that I only had to do this once a year and if you ask me again, NO WAY I’m going to volunteer anymore no matter how many tools I have. ISH! Hope that boss will know the efforts I’ve put into it and boss, if you are reading this, you “sek cho” (know what to do) lar next year during review time. Kekeke….

Let me give you some tips... next time when you have to punch so many, use a clever/small plate/something heavy to help you press down so those lines on the cutters won't sore your palms :)
You did the night before, so mai have to keep in air tight container to keep them crispy lor?
