As mentioned yesterday, I’m going to make Zo a Marie Cat bento today. But I wasn’t really satisfied with the end results. Tho I pressed hard on the puncher (even until the bread are as thin as a cookie), but the feature imprints doesn’t seemed to be prominent. I thought it would help for the features to be more obvious by toasting it, but then I guess I’m wrong. Maybe it’s because I had spread butter and sugar on it before toasting? Hmm.. I wonder….
Today’s no so perfect Marie Cat butter & Sugar toasts in the perfect match Marie Cat bento box.

I'm no sifu but just to share my thought :P I always go for fresh Gardenia bread when I want to make bread with imprint. Find that soft texture make the imprint prominent. Even with the Gardenia bread that is 2 days older (not to say some bakery shop bread which have rough surface), I find the bread surface is a bit harder to imprint. Also I always toast the bread plain first then only apply butter. Hope that helps :)
Thanks for your advice KDW! I did all the same as you did except I had spread the butter and sugar first b4 toasting. Bcz Zo is in afternoon school, so I need something that will last long (from d time I made them until her recess)and not gone gooey when she opens the box.
